Challenge 7 at CCC- Christmas Theme

This is the next theme at the CCC blog, and as I told you before, I wished to use Katharina's lovey sketch again. This time the base card I used was rectangular, instead of square card. The main image , that of Edwin dressed up for Christmas, is cut with Nestabilities. I mounted on red scalloped card. For the bottom I used a piece of DP from my stash, good way of using scraps :)

At the bottom, I decorated a strip of the same DP used with red crossed ribbon, after being mounted on white then green cardstock. The main image is embellished with adhesive green gems and I doodled some words that, for me, are the best part of the Christmas Spirit :)

Recipe:

Green and white cardsock
Edwin image
Circle and Scalloped circle Nestabilities
DCWV text prints
Red organza Ribbon
Two way glue
Fine silver glitter
Star brads
Green self adhesive gems
Black fine pen

I do wish that sharing, family, peace, joy, presents and love are true gifts from the heart that we all find delight to shower upon our loved ones( and not only to these) not only during one festive season or another, but all through the year. They make life so much more pleasant and lovely to live.
God bless

DT card for CCC Blog- challenge 6

Okay, I'm really sorry, this week I didn't have new cards to show you because today the children will be starting school, and I had LOADS of books to cover (with other loads to come next week!), copybooks, project books and files to organise and cover as well.. pencil boxes to fill, stationery to mark... and so the list does go on and on.

Having said that.. do you think I could have energy to create and craft at the end of the day?? No, I didn't! And yes, I had craft withdrawing symptoms! lol

But I did blog some things, just to keep in touch.. and to show you some stuff! Anyway.. this is the sketch we had to work on for this coming week:

This sketch was chosen by Chris, at Pollicrafts, this month's grand prize sponsor.
I don't know about you, but the simpler the sketch is, the more difficult I find it to work with! And I spent almost all week thinking what style I will adopt to interpret this.

Anyway, finally yesterday I came up with this card; with light blue, purple and brown as main colours. I never mixed these colours together, but I like the effect! :) The "I", "heart" and "U" are decoupaged and I glued the surface with a 2 way glue pen, then added fine glitter. I achieved a lovely raised effect.

For this card i used:

DP from stash
Sentiment computer generated
Large brad
Purple pearl brads for tags
fine white glitter
Prima flowers
Brown ribbon
Sudio G clear stamp for flourish
Black pen for free hand doodling around sentiment
Butterfly embellies

I hope to see much more of you lovely creations following this sketch on Cupcake CC You have till next Monday to enter. You can win the grand prize at the end of the month. And while you're there... go and peep on the other DT members' blogs. They have lovely makes to show you.
Thanks for looking, and for taking your time to leave a comment. It was highly appreciated
God Bless

5th Challenge on Cupcake Craft Challenges... Sketch by Lauren

This week we had a sketch to interpret as our weekly challenge on Cupcake CC. Lauren designed the sketch for us.
From the first time I saw it, I could see that it fitted perfectly well for a card for the guys :)

Boyish cards aren't my speciality, but I loved working with this layout. Simple and elegant.
The Magnolia images are painted with watercolours, i used two different sts, to have more choice of colous, and in the end I defined his trousers with some gel pen colour from paintbrush.

The embossed background was entirely hand- embossed. It took me one and a half hours, and beleive me, my hand and shoulders ached after that! lol
paper ribbon and sentiment: HOTP Cardmaker's Earth Palette
Matt behind images: DCWV Text prints matt stack
Brads and fibres from stash.

This week, it would be brilliant if we have more entries.. com'on this won't take you long!! :)
I'd like to see some new ideas, at least when I'll use this sketch again, I'll have more interpretations in my mind ;)

Thanks for looking!

Wishing you love .. and laughter..
forever after!! :)
Rosette xx

P.S. As you can see.. with the help of my lovely community, the camera arrived!! No more boring coloured scans!! Yippee! Now I own my FinePix, and it's great! :)
Thank you from my heart. xx

Spoon Full of Sugar- Nikki's sketch

This week at Spoon Full of Sugar there was this cute sketch. I loved it immediately, and decided I wanted to give it a try. I had a scrapbooking paper that I wanted to work with, together with a Sarah Kay image I received as part of the Blog candy I had won.

This is what came of it! :)

I coloured the image with water-colours, having to mix with some black to create a distressed look on the clothes. I chose to decoupage some leaves and flowers from the same paper onto the image's border, after I doodled some flourishes freehand. Finally I couldn't resist to add some glittery sparkle to her trousers, hat and to the red flower..! This image helps you to visualise more how it looks

Recipe Gift Set

For the DT challenge this week, we had to do anything we liked, as long as it includes Cupcakes. At first I was unsure, as I don't usually include food things in my creations.. but like it happened with the ATC, I had to think out of my comfort zone :) Anyway, to cut it short I decided to do anything which is not a card, and inspired by some blogs last week I came out with a Recipe set; which includes:
A pocket file to keep loose recipes from hiding at a crutial "hurry up" time! (inspiration came from Sukkersott)
A round bookmark,(sentiment is a freebie from Karen's blog.. you shlould visit! ) to keep a favourite recipe from a book handy (this was inspired by most talented Katharina), and
Hanging Cupcake Recipe

This is the finished result

Now for some details :

For the folder. I used these measurements , and built accordingly. Just a small tip for those of you who would like to try this one out:

Decorate the inside BEFORE mounting the side flaps and before decorating the outside.. it will be easier ( I made this mistake, and had to take the side flaps out again (risking to tear it and start all over again!)

I decided to make it bright pastel, so I found some coordinating papers from stash and started to cut and layer (without gluing, to be sure about the outcome as this was my first folder)
Between the layers I folded some lace to give it a more sassy look :)

As you can see it closes with coordinating embroidery thread being entwined from button to a white heart brad.

The "My Recipes" tag is computer generated, and after I layered it and decorated with faux stitching, I kept it in place with a heart brad.

Now, on the inside, I used a reminder clear sticker: The fruit of the Spirit.." mounted on DP,layerd, inked and with some small adhesive gems. I quite liked the effect.

The Hanging Cupcake recipe is also computer generated. I layered it in the same matching colours, and decided to boost the colour on the sides with decorating chalks. Then the hanging part is decorated with the same DP cut with nestabilities and folded in half. I added a green eyelet and matching ribbon and embroidery thread (the same as the folder's).

The bookmark with pin is inspired as I said from a lovely feature I found on Katharina's blog. Go and have a peep, she's one talented lady! :)

It is mounted on a large pin, and covered both sides with nesties. DP like the folder's and cupcakes.. of course!!

I hope that you like this set, I think it will make a lovely gift.. and I really had fun for once in a while doing something different.I hope till next Sunday at the Cupcake Craft Challenge blog we'll see some more entries.. I am waiting to see what you'll come up with! :)

Grateful ~ Christine's RAK beautiful sketch

This beautiful sketch that Christine created at 2sketches 4U here was really a pleasure to work with, as it is quite original, and not so common. Actually I opted to turn it 90 degrees to the right. This is the actual sketch she designed

Anyway this is what I came with, a Grateful defined card, showing apprecition to someone who has been kind. I loved this colour combo right from the start, and with some bits and pieces it was completed. I had nobody in mind while I was doing it, but I want to dedicate it to all who are a support to me personally, to my Community, and to our beloved kids.

Ingredients:
White cardsotck
K.Ology Verbena & Peabody DP
HOTP Thank you Card Quotes Pack
Ursus 3D Handmade stickers
Paper and Prima flower
Lace
Pink Anchor embroidery floss
Green self- adhesive gems
Dovecraft Neutrals Decorative chalks
Pencil colours

This is the message on the inside of the card.

P.S. I want to dedicate this card especially to my dear brother and his wife that every year, kindly get me most of this beautiful stuff with them from the U.K. each time they come to visit, otherwise I wouldn't be able to participate to these challenges. (((( Hugs))) to you both.xx

Orient Pride- My first ever ATC

Well, this is it - my First one.. and it HAD to be Oriental.. this style fashinates me. I don't know why, and I don't know exactly when or how it started, but I love their style, the images, their art. I do remember though that already as a child I had a bit of attraction to all that is oriental. Anyway, thaks to Lauren's challenge here... I present you.. my First ATC!

Ingredients:

Dark green cardstock and brown/golden Bazzill
Mary Rahder Oriental papers (which I slightly burned for that antique feeling)
Decoupage butterfly cut and layered from Mary Rahder Oriental Decoupage papers as well
Brown Organza and thin black satin ribbons
Earth Palette square brads
Studio G clear stamp
Light and dark Brown inkpads
Gold glitter glue

As always, I appreciate your comments on this one, especially from those who are more into the art of ATCs,cause I don't know if this is the right way to do them.

Peace and Blessings
Thanks for looking

When friends meet... My Papertake Weekly Challenge entry

This week at Papertake we have the following sketch to follow, and the Design Team, including wonderfully talented Katharina herself( who designed this sketch), gave us lovely projects to inspire us. The WoJ stamp being given to the winner makes you want to try your best.. so let's see!!

Yesterday I was really tired, and having come back from the pool with the kids, and made the loads of clothes etc.. I thought I was ready for a quick blog hop, and off to bed! But when I start with papers.. and ribbons.. and colouring.. then I forget about being tired! I loved working with this image, again it's a swap image I received from Maxine. The fact that it's not an image you usually use, it's more fun still! :)

Also purple is my favourite colour.. and the light pastels in this DP is very versatile in itself. The picture here is just not right.. the colours in real life are lovely. Scan colours are boring!

I paper pierced both the image and the sentiment for more effect. Image is coloured with water- colours, then added some depth with colour picked from shimmery gel pens, and tried to add some glaze with the pen.. but it decided it wanted a day off! Cake is shaded to give an impression of being very chocolatey :)

List of stash I used is not so specific, as DP and image have come from swap and BRAK,
white light blue and purple cardstock
bits from stash
fibres I recently bought from the Pound Shop
Papermania brads
White Ribbon
when friends meet.. sentiment is computer generated
Happy Birthday sentiment is hand- doodled.

thai is all .. and ... voila'!! Very chic! :)

Oops!! Fashionista did it again!!

This time I'm Second placed in winning the CB Forum Black & Pink Challenge... with my cute Hippo! I love this card.. shiny and girly and humorous !! Congrats to Maggie who placed first and Tigger , third place. There was some lovely entries :)

I entered this card for another challenge : Our Creative Corner, maybe Amy, for her 40th Birthday will compete with my Hippo!! Who knows.. I bet she's a Fashionista herself!! Are you Amy??? :) Have a LOVELY Birthday, anyway.

Chris's Blog candy

I can tell you that Chris HATES word verification!! And to know why.. read on!! :)
She has a point though... Chris you're good for politics! lol :)

And thank you for the candy.. go and have a look here! Isn't it awesome? You have till the 15th Sept. to enter the draw!

ARGUMENTS AGAINST WORD VERIFICATION

Everyone will have their own view, but in my case, I regard the removal of word verification as a basic courtesy to my visitors who are kind enough to take the time to leave comments...

The problem with word verification is that it takes too long. The characters are very often hard to decipher, and it’s frustrating when you get them wrong and have to re-enter the little suckers!

I think most people just have word verification switched on by default, not realising how easy it is to switch it off, and perhaps not realising how annoying it is for other bloggers. Either that, or they’re under the misapprehension that they will be bombarded with spam messages. This is not the case. I’ve had mine switched off now for three of the four months that I’ve been blogging, and have had two spam comments. The responses I’ve had from other bloggers to my earlier posts on this topic back this up. (You can see the comments in response to my previous post on this subject, HERE.)

For safety’s sake, have comment moderation on for sure, but please consider canceling word verification on your blog. Maybe for a trial period, and see how you get on.

Unless there are thousands of comments being left, comment moderation shouldn’t be too much of an issue for the blog owner, and other bloggers will also be more inclined to leave comments if they can see that you don’t use word verification.

Pink and Black - CB Forum Competition

I wished to take part in this challenge, and with the busy week I had I almost forgot that today was the closing date!! :O
Anyway, I wished to experiment with this image that I received from Maxine this week in a frienship swap, and designed a card based on these two colours. I will be giving it to one of the kids for her bBirthday, which was earlier this week!! I know I know.. better late than ever! I promised her that she will get it!! :)

I named this card "Fashionista", because she is one!! She loves to dress up... she's a GIRL, what you expect!! ;) I also used a tag that was with some new clothes.. what do you think of this idea?? You like it?
