ROP DT- Happy New Year 2009!!

A final card in the last hours of this Year, and to welcome the celebration of 2009! I hope that it will bring us all blogging friends together more than ever... And I hope that we will never tire making other people happy with our creations and with the messages we leave in each other's blogs. We all know what a good feeling, and a whole load of courage it all brings us to continue making our best. God bless and don't hesitate to celebrate.. but be safe! Please don't drink and drive! All the best wishes!

This is a ROP DT card for Summer's store. When this paper pad arrived , I immediately combined these papers with the image in my mind.. I think they compliment each other. I also inked her background with light blue to seem like the sky behind her, and the bottom half in brown distress ink. You'll find all Highlighted items in Roses on Paper store. Don't forget that she has a wonderful Sale going on, but due to her good sale her site has collapsed! :) She's eagerly waiting her webmaster to restore her service to keep taking your orders. Oh Happy Days :)

Seeing these lovely mice having such a deep and relaxed nap makes me think of those Happy Days.. whaen we were carefree, no thoughts to disturb our profound sleep.. and if someone dared to disturb that sleep!!! ..... :) lol
After some weeks I managed to do a DT card for the Cupcake Craft Challenge blog. This week's Chalenge is Blog Background inspired.
This is Lauren's theme for this week:

"This weeks challenge I would like you to be inspired by the background of this blog. Reminds me of chocolate cupcakes mmmmmm.... But you could use the colours, anything."... and so be it!
I went for the main blog background colours: Brown and pink. I had this image coloured which I wanted to use a few weeks ago, but was too large for the layout I had in mind. But for this card it worked a beauty :)

I'll be short, because it is very late, and I need some sleep before the dawn of day! :) I hope to manage to do at least another card before the new year knocks on my door... but I wish you the very Best. I hope you like this card, and I'll be happy with your comments. I will also remind you that those who don't have a blog or a Blogger account, can leave me a comment in my Chat box here in my blog. It only reqiures an e-mail address (which will not be displayed publicly). Take care of yourselves.. and your loved ones.xx Live in God's love, and give your children a hug from me :) They are God's angels in today's troubled world. xx

Papers are from Papermania, scrap pieces from Stash
Image: House-Mouse
Crystal Lacquer used on the candle (you can see it better if you zoom the photos by clicking on them)
Sentiment: Happy thoughts clear Sticker
Coloured with: Watercolours and Distress ink (Antique Linen)
Pearl Brads: Papermania
Square Brads: Dovecraft
Scallop Sciccors for the border
Funky Fibers
Flowers: Partly Prima and partly Crotcheted
Sewing is done by hand
All edges are inked with Chocolate colored ink pad

On the doorstep of a New Year :)

Now that Christmas Day is over, we have some more days before we start another Year, a year that brings new hope to those who are encountering a difficult situation. A New Year that may bring new opportunities to those who are looking for new ventures, new work, new Love.. who knows what we are all looking for in life :)
And also to us bloggers.. a new year with maybe more new stamps, new toys to play with, new challenges.. and new friends with whom to chat and share. And most important, to make more people happy with receiving one of our lovely creations; made with love.

We at Roses on Paper also have new exciting things coming in the New Year :) Keep peeping in Summer's Blog from time to time, and at the Store's site!! who knows??! :) lol I'll keep you curious for now! Just to be sure to be one of the first to keep track of what will be happening, you can start following RoP Challenge and Summer's Blogs.. and those of us DT. You'll find these in my sidebar if you'd like.

For today i have some sweet mice celebrating with me ;) lol
Aren't they cute?? I have done these sweet card holders for the sisters in my Community. Those who work with us (carers etc) give us a small donation each, and they gather a small amount of money. Then they buy some mobile phone credit cards for us to use. So this year, I decided to make these cardholders to make them in for them.. as a small surprise :)

I have kept them simple :)
Thank you my friend Susan, who sent me these images to use :) If you are a fan of these cute House-Mouse stamps and haven't yet checked Susan's blog, you must visit her! She's a big fan of these cuties, and make lovely cards featuring them. Go and leave her some lovely messages, to show her you were there.

Hugz to all for now, my dear blogging friends. I hope that you're celebrating with love.. and that you're remembering those who are less fortunate than us.

I used Red and White cardstock, nesties, corner rounder punch, white and red gel pens. Glitter glue for some bling. The images are coloured with pencil colours. The red centre kisses ( both the round ones and even the floers) in between the gems can be found at Roses on Paper's store here.

Willow searching for New Year's Blessings

I really enjoyed doing this card. This Willow is inspiring me a lot, and I'm really pleased with the result! :) And you know what? It is Roses on Paper DT work, and it fits into four challenges! Yay! I had done cards that fitted into two, but four... this is the first! Don't you just love how sparkly she is?? :)
First I water-coloured the image, layer by layer.. leaving it to dry before adding depth and shadow( this was done for three times). When I was satisfied, I added sparkle with gel pen glitter colour from damp paintbrush. When that was dry, I covered the whole dress with 3D crystal lacquer. It really stands out!!
Now for the Challenges ;) Basic Grey.. is going green! :) They wants us to use recycled objects on our card (such as used cardboard, buttons etc.. and I used recycled cardboard for stamping.

My time to Craft wants to see the Colour Green in the card, Spoon Full of Sugar wants us to make a card for the New Year... and the sentiment goes with that. Cute Card Thursday wanted any card for any occasion... that was easy! So I will enter it for all!

The ingredients used will be listed below. All the highlighted materials are obviously a few among the gorgeous things you can find at Roses on Paper.. together with all the offers you get there.. such as the reward points tou add every time you purchase anything from Summer. These can be added till you can get a free stamp! so what you're waiting for!!?

White cardboard
Basic Grey Papers: Wassail and Sugared Paper packs
Stamp: Willow with Lantern (whiff of joy)
Prima Flowers
Dew Drops These come in such gorgeous bottles one can always refill! I fell in love with them :)
Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch,
3D Crystal Lacquer
Sentiment: computer Generated
Sizzix Tag Die
Brads (Gold)
Fancy Paper clip
Embroidery thread

Tip: To have a matching brad, use a gold or plain brad, punch a small piece of extra paper from the DP you're using in the card.. glue it on the brad. After you fix it in place, cover with 3D crystal lacquer and leave to dry :) Voila! You have a lovely matching brad! :)

P.S. The winner of my Blog candy, Robin didn't get in touch! Please do so.. if you don't till Christmas Day in the evening, I will have to choose another winner!

I wish you all a very Happy Christmas Blogging Buddies! This year I will treasure it mostly for the Wonderful friends that I have made in the Blogging World.. friends that have improved my card making, and enriched my life with their love. Hugz to you all!! ♥

And behold.. You shall conceive a Child..

Today I'm going to show you a different card from the ones I usually make. It is not one of those cute cards, but a card with a message.. that of the Annunciation of Jesus' Birth. I was contacted yeasterday by a friend, saying that he wanted a card to give to His Grace, our Archbishop! and he wanted it by evening to be given in a special occasion!! I can tell you.. I really panicked!! :) First of all.. I never made a card for such an honorable person.. the Archbishop himself.. and then I had two school concerts, and had to finish the card before the kids arrived from school! Eeeek!

Anyway, I can say that God really wanted this card, cause I don't know how I made it!! But the Archbishop seemed to appreciate it, and well ..this is always our joy, in seeing our humble work we take in putting the card together being appreciated. God bless you dear friend, and I pray that your inner "manger".. that is.. your heart.. is prepared to receive Him in a few days' time! :)

Paper: Papermania Elegant Colossal Paper

Blog Candy time!! :) / Hanglar Christmas

Okay, this didn't take me long to do... few hours is better than two days! :) But I LOVE these Hanglar beauties, but oh dear... it takes me quite some time to make myself colour them in! :)Thanks Lim for these lovely images! This darling is from the Winter kit, I have read, and they are soo lovely to shade and embellish. I am trying to send my Christmas cards this week, but I write my message on Traditional cards... these "cuties stuff" don't show the REAL Christmas spirit, so I send them additionally as a gift. Coloured the image with watercolours. Short post this morning, cause I have lots to catch up with!!

Papers: Papermania Simply Elegant
Stamp: HAnglar & StAnglar
Sentiment: Dovecraft Clear Stamp
Pearl Brad: Papermania
Brads: Dovecraft

You may have even been a kid.. doesn't matter. Shared your stuff, gave something to someone out of love.. anything! We all have good in us, and we need each other to make more courage to do some more good in our small world. As for me..

I remember that even though as a kid we weren't a "rich" family (as dad died when I was seven). I used to be very attentive not to make mum buy me a lot of stuff.. we needed money for more important things ( I used to think.)But nonetheless I really used to be sensitive for those kids around me who didn't have sweets, and especially at Christmas time I used to collect all the sweets and small presents I used to get, and give them to my classmates that were poor, or were a bit neglected. I never forgot the lovely feeling sharing gives me.

I will draw the prize on Friday 19th Dec. 21.00 European time. Will ship worldwide.

Whew such a long post today!! :)

Sweet Melinda Hugging Heart

Okay... this is the third time I'm writing this post, cause my computer keeps closing the Inernet window when I'm finished, and clearing everything while I'm making the last editing to then publish!!

Now this card already took me two days to fiish, now it's taking an hour to get it published!! :(
Don't know about you, but every time I try to make an aperture card, my mojo has a rest. I couldn't quite finish this card, I kept thinking to myself that it lacks something. Blah! Anyway, this lovely Melinda had to be entered for Basic Grey Challenge, but as you see I'm two days behind! But luckily I also had in mind Cute Card Thursday, as they want to see hearts.. and I have seven here; including the metal charm :)

I hope that those of you who had in mind to put up the tree this weekend has found the time to do so. I also hope that you also find the time and space to put up also a small(or large!) crib. Please do remember that all this decorating, giving, sharing and thinking of others is all about Jesus. One doesn't take all the energy to prepare a Birthday party, preparing mountains of food, music, presents, inviting friends.. and then leave the Birthday Boy/Girl outside the house, does he?? Do think about it!

Whiff of Joy stamps can be purchased from lovely Summer at Roses on Paper, with more other cute stamps like Magnolias ( choice of more than a 100 stamps), Sarah Kay, Alota, etc.. Keep checking, cause she keeps adding other cuties for us to empty our purses!lol

Two of the features I love on this online store are the Gift Certificates one can purchase from here , for a crafty friend at Christmas or maybe Birthday. Have you ever wanted to give something like stash to a friend, but don't know what's missing in her stash?? It happens to me, and Summer has a solution to that, with these Gift certificates. You can whisper that word to your hubby continually while he sleeps, till it gets into his mind as what you'd like this Christmas! :) lol

Tell him also that when you shop there you'll be adding points for rewards that may get you another free stamp! See for yourself!

I've coloured this cutie in watercolours, and softened the white around with Distress ink. I have added sparkle with silver glitter glue on the wings, hearts and flowers.
Flowers, metal clip and gems from stash
DP is Basic Grey Two Scoops
Sentiment : Studio G clear stamps

By the way look what the postie got me this week! I didn't have time to mention that I won Ruby's blog candy. Thanks Ruby I love all those things, especially the Cuttlebug embossing folder! I already used it in the other card I uploaded this week! I had to!! :) thanks :)

StampARTic Thank You card

Whoever of you is not visiting StampARTic, the Scandinavian/English Online magazine for us cardmakers, is missing a lot. This week, there is a challenge for this type of folder card, which makes a beautiful gift for a loved one. The challenge is set by Camilla. Also, A Spoon Full of Sugar challenged us for a Thank you card.. so I decided to combine both. I wanted to work with this Gorgeous Tilda Ice/Ballet Princess from the Pink Collection :) She's sooo cute, and reminds me of one of the kids I used to take care of.. and when I used to take her to bi-weekly ballet lessons :)This beauty lives in Roses on Paper's Store..here.. and it's a pity she stays there. Summer just got another stock of them in.. shhh don't tell anybody cause you won't find one when you go and order it!! They sell pretty fast, especially now that she has a good Sale!

As you see she is comfortably sitting, and I added dimensionals in a way that looks like she's really with one foot over the other. Also added some glitter after colouring with watercolours.. and some white strokes of gel pen. Behind her is a nestie embossed with Cuttlebug folder, and shaded with decorating chalks and ink for the edge.
You can always click on each picture to see in more detail.

This is a view of the card when opened, which closes with a ribbon bow, and below you'll find shots in different angles, to show you details of this folder card. It took me some time, but I'm happy with it! :)

The inside is decorated with a "Just for You" stamp and 3D ladybird underneath. The middle part (central) with a note paper, which I partially inked with Distress Antique linen, then I masked with a piece of heart-shaped cardstock and continued building colour, to later reveal the soft heart shape. I sticked self-adhesive letters to read GRATEFUL; and at the bottom I wrote... for your friendship!
I built a swirl out of clear gems and a large bloom. Dp is Papermania Colossal Nostalgia Warm.
I hope you like it !

By the way, I aded a chat box on my Blog. If you stop by, I'd love you to leave me a small friendship message. If I'd be online at that time, I might answer you back, and chat.. It's really easy to use. And you don't have to have a Blog either, even an email will do to be able to post. Thanks :) ♥

Cupcake Craft Challenges * 16 - Vintage

I hope you had a lovely weekend, and that you managed to have some me-time to relax and recharge your batteries! As for me , this weekend really passed quickly, and I managed to make this DT project in these last few hours ;) Anyway here it goes!!

This week it was Steph's turn to set the challenge. It will be Vintage week! Hey.. this WAS a challenge for me, actually I never done vintage before! I work a lot with earth palette colours, but not real vintage style. So to tell you the truth I had to make some search in internet to get some ideas of vintage styles and different layouts, pictures and downloads to start. But then in an hour and a half it was ready. Record time for me I think! :))

I hope you like it. I used downloads for papers, Father Christmas and picture. Then I tore edges, inked with various ink pads and Ranger Distress Antique linen. Embellished with some pearl dew drops and Christmas fabric flower. Victorian style lace and Stampin' Up Circle of Friendship stamps to finish!

Have a lovely week friends, and I hope that now that Advent has started, we help by spreading joy, love and some Christmas Cheer to prepare our hearts to celebrate Jesus' Birth in a few weeks' time! Don't forget to go to Cupcake Craft Challenges to see what my other DT friends have created, and while you're there, visit their blogs, and leave them some love. I hope that you'll also find the time to join us as well, especially if you're a Vintage lover. If you're not, do like me, take the plunge.. it will be worthwhile!

I am getting close to 5000 hits, and I may also make a candy nearby.. preparing for Christmas. So stay tuned!! :) ♥
